Arkansas is a state located in the southern portion of the United States of America. The capital and largest city in Arkansas is Little Rock. One the eve of the Civil War nearly 25% of the population of Arkansas was slaves brought to the state from the upper south to work in the cotton fields. The 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton, was born in Hope, Arkansas. He also served 12 years as the 40th and 42nd Governor of Arkansas.
